black

Posted in style by portia on April 12th, 2008

I love this black dress. When I wear it, I look tiny. Not in terms of skinny, but poodle-like tiny. Which is nice for a change– sometimes I have a fascination with being physically stupefied and intellectually stupefied. It has got flouncy-like ends that create a lot of movement when you walk.

The coldness of the night saw me wrapping yet another cardigan around my neck as a scarf. .

evil barbie

This Fashion is a shop that most snooties and pseudo-snobbies laugh at, because it is a budget store that sometimes has pretty crass offerings. Although I get my corduroy jackets there– they are so cheap and can pass off for Zara; and then I found my candy pink Evil Barbie drainpipes there. I don’t really care how cheap or expensive my stuff are– I never understand how some like to severely inflate the prices of their stuff– but I always like a good mix. Although 2/3 of my wardrobe is from Mango, probably because I like how you can create an infinite amount of looks from their different collections. I love Warehouse too, Karen Millen and it are my favorites among the Brit stable of Topshop/Ms Selfridge/Dorothy Perkins/Warehouse/KM/etcetera.

in golden splendor

Posted in style by portia on March 10th, 2008

I love gold so much, I have tons of gold accessories. A pair of gold sneakers, clothes with golden trimming, golden dresses, and then I used to carry a gold hobo for a schoolbag until everybody rode on the trend. It rains quite a bit here, especially when the weather turns freakish due to all sorts of reasons like environmental degradation as well as the seasonal Wet Monsoon season. Lectures in uni, as well as train rides can get pretty cold, it’s a pretty good excuse to indulge in a sizeable collection of outerwear.

For warmer days, it’s essential to get a nice lightweight cardigan. I’ve never really liked solid colored cotton ones, they look pretty drab. I like certain staples in my wardrobe to complete an outfit, so when I saw this gold lamé one at Mango, it was lust at first sight. On some days when the neckline of my clothes are a tad too low for comfort in school, I simply drape this around my neck like a scarf. Works purr-fectly well.

sickly old man cardigan

Posted in style by portia on March 6th, 2008

I was extremely happy to find a Sickly Old Man cardigan at the weekly jumble for only a dollar– it’s one of the things that don’t justify me spending eighty buckeroos at Topshop for. Coupled with my favorite $2 dress from Patong Beach, I trudged off all nice and warm. I’ve been carrying the same bag everyday because I’m way too lazy to change it, all sleepy when I open my eyes for school. Been keeping accessories to a minimum– not sure why, perhaps I’m taking a break from Christmas Tree Syndrome.
